Past Lives

I think this touches on such a poignant part of the “ideal” and the “could’ve been.” It’s something that I sometimes feel in my life where I get stuck progressing forward because it’s not the right time or not perfect. It’s clearly a crutch for Hae Sun in how he views his “ordinary life” and it pushes him away from moving forward with a woman. I think it’s explored so well here. The clash of striving for those ideals vs. not letting them encompass you like how she doesn’t have an award she wants to win anymore. <i>Arthur playing video games right after she has a day out with Hae Sun is so perfect. </i> <i> </i> <i>The scene with both of them in bed is so good. He asks a lot of the questions I would but in general he’s a lot more chill and calm about the situation than I would’ve been.</i> <i> </i> <i>You dream in a language I don’t understand.</i>
